101 in 1001 - Update: Jack-o'-lantern Faces & Inktober

Jack-o'-lantern Carved!
This is just a little update on my 101 in 1001 list, because even though it's not even at 101 goals I want to achieve yet, I've actually managed to complete two goals from it already. Shockingly efficient! To be fair, these were relatively simple goals, so I shouldn't feel too pleased with myself just yet.

The first goal was:

  • 028. Carve a jack-o'-lantern.
I began by acquiring a rather aptly named "Monster Pumpkin".

Monster Pumpkin
Then came the process of scooping out the seeds and flesh - again, all sounds very appropriate to the Halloween season, doesn't it!

I'll use the insides to make something
Next, I drew on the face with a marker and cut it out with a knife. Initially, it had fangs, but my hand wasn't cooperating at all yesterday (woo for cold pumpkins/days and having Raynaud's), so they were lopped off accidentally - oops!

It wasn't as elaborate as some of the ones I've done in the past, but sometimes simple is effective, I suppose. You can see it lit, in the dark, at the top of this post.

The next completed goal was:
  • 001. Complete Inktober 2017.
Capture of my Inktober 2017 - plus bonus octopus!
Above are all the drawings I did for Inktober this year. If you want to see a larger version of any of them, they can all be found on this blog under the Inktober2017 tag.

Inktober, Day 17 - Alien Interactions

Inktober, Day 17: Alien Interactions
For Day 17 of Inktober, I decided to go without a theme and just draw something that came into my head. So there is is!

Inktober, Day 8: Damselfly & Bonus Invertebrates

Inktober, Day 8: Damselfly
Somehow, I managed to forget to photograph the pictures I did for Inktober Days 8 & 9, so this is appearing a little late. Anyway, here is my drawing for Day 8 - a damselfly.

Music:
Tamashii Module - Ichor
Tamashii Module - Ravenous

As I'd already drawn two other invertebrates recently, just because I felt like it, I'm including those pictures in this post too.

Inktober - Day 1

Inktober, Day 1
It's October once again and that means it's that Inktober time of year. I've decided to participate again this year and began by drawing this tree frog.

365 Days of Art: Memento Mori

123. 'Memento Mori'
For my 365 Days of Art list I decided to draw four different pictures that became two 'pieces' for number 123: Memento Mori (excuse the terrible photographs of them).

365 Days of Art: Create a new species of animal

006. Create a new species of animal.

This is a strange little creature I drew/painted (and tidied up slightly in Photoshop) for the 365 Days of Art challenge, this time for number 6: "Create a new species of animal". This is the Flying Long-tongued Lizard Catcher, an amphibious creature that swims when in the water, walks on two legs when on land, and uses its wings to either fly through the air or to propel itself through the water.

It predominantly eats small lizards, fish, and large insects. When on land, it catches its prey by swooping down from the air and using sticky secretions on its legs to trap them. When in the water, it flattens the bulk of its body against the sea bed and buries itself under the sand, It then uses the lure on its head to draw fish towards it before grabbing them with its long tongue.

365 Days of Art Update: Dia de los Muertos, Magical Girls, Flowers & Fat Cats

This is an update post for the 365 Days of Art that I'm currently doing.

50: Your Favourite Holiday - Dia de los Muertos
Above is number 50 (Halloween is actually my favourite, but I draw that all the time, so I chose Dia de los Muertos, which is a close second). The rest of my progress so far this week can be found below and you even get a little bonus limerick with number 12.  I'm just that kind! (Excuse the poor quality photos of the hand drawn ones!)

The random numbers for this week (Nov. 29th - Dec. 6th, 2014) are:

4. A "Speedpaint" using only the binary/pencil tool (pixels).
10. Yourself as a magical girl/boy.
12. Try to create something in the style of another artist.
50. Your favourite holiday.
58. Something green.
83. Western European myth.
341. Alpha. Beta. Delta. Gamma.

100 Happy Days: Day 13 - Flambert the Flame Goat

To those who know me well, it is no secret that I adore goats. When other children would beg for puppies and kittens, I spent a large part of my young days wishing for a goat (and yet, I only have feline masters now! Haha). Caprids are beautiful; from their pointed horns and rectangular pupils to the effortless way in which they scale sheer cliff faces with their "reverse-joint" legs! Due to this interest - and following a rather nonsensical conversation - my friend drew a sketch of a goat character for me, and named him Flambert the Flame Goat. Continuing our silly discussion, my friend brought Flambert to life for me, as he explained how Flambert came to be where and who he is, and told short stories about Flambert's adventures. Marvelous!

Day 13 of 100 Happy Days, complete!
