Day 22 of Inktober brought a familiar being into the frame, in the shape of a citric acid Xenomorph (from Alien). This also counted as number 330 on my 365 Days of Art list.

101 in 1001 is a list of 101 things I hope to accomplish within 1001 days. This was inspired by seeing the lists my friends Kei and Rina had made, and also writing a similar (private) list a few years ago myself. Not everything I'd like to do is going on this list, as I prefer not to announce some things to the world, but this is more than enough! I'll add more as I think of them and any suggestions are also welcome. :)

I woke up knowing that I wanted to draw something with bees in, on the 19th (and so, for Day 19 of Inktober), but wasn't sure what. So I turned to the music of Dvar for some inspiration, since apparently they don't write their music, but are given all of it through dreams by a giant bee being, also named Dvar. They don't always specify that it's a bee, but they have a lot of bee-themed art on their albums. I think it worked!

This also serves as theme number 116: A song as a picture, on the 365 Days of Art list. The song is 'Lyarrah', though I was listening to various songs by Dvar.

Here's a doodle I did for Inktober, Day 13 and number 188 of the 365 Days of Art list. 

I drew this whilst listening to a podcast about the Green Children of Woolpit, who appeared in the UK town of Woolpit suddenly one day back in the time of King Stephen (King of England from 1135 to 1154). They had green skin, would only eat broad/fava beans at first, and spoke a language unknown to anyone around. When they finally learnt to speak the English of the time, they said that they came from the underground world of St. Martin, and that everyone there had green skin too. It's documented in historical accounts and, though it's likely just a fantastical work of the time, it was an interesting listen nevertheless!

I haven't been posting the drawings I've been doing for Inktober over the past few days, so this is the first of a bunch of catch up posts. This particular one is for Day 12 and also for the theme "Something using only purple, blue and grey" on my 365 Days of Art list. It's of a character called Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin from the TV show Gotham, as he tends to wear/appear around those colours (and also he's a character I really like in the show). It doesn't look much like him, and turned out fairly rubbish in general because my hand/brain decided not to cooperate with each other that day, but oh well. Onto the next one! :)

This drawing completed the first week of Inktober, and it helped me to cross off the "black & white" theme on my own 365 Days of Art list too. What I learnt from this picture is that any circle I ink will always be slightly wonky, no matter how hard I try!

365 Days of Art: Favourite Plant

25. Favourite Plant

This is number 25 of the 365 Days of Art list: 'Favourite Plant'. It's a drawing of a moth orchid, which is one of the house plants I look after (along with a poinsettia and a rose). I actually don't have a favourite because they - like all the plants in my garden - are wonderful, but this is the first one I got (years ago), so it's the one I drew.

Inktober - Day 3 & 365 Days of Art: The Divine Comedy

Inktober, Day 3 /  94. Something based on The Divine Comedy by Dante

This is for Day 3 of Inktober but is also doubling as number 94 (Something based on The Divine Comedy by Dante) on my 365 Days of Art list. It was loosely inspired by the part of 'Paradiso', in which Dante goes to the Empyrean realm and sees a giant rose appear with angels flying around it. All of humanity (eventually including Beatrice) lives within this rose. A blinding light then envelopes Dante and allows him to see God/the Holy Trinity (I only drew the beginnings of the light though). 

It isn't a great drawing and the photograph of it is even worse, but I enjoyed doing it. I may go back and revisit this idea, by way of a better version, one day.

Number 89 of my 365 Days of Art challenge is around the theme 'Tentacles'. I decided to draw a nautilus because a) they have more than 90 tentacles, and b) they are amazing creatures! Also, just on a side note, they're the only animals with eyes that work like pinhole cameras.
